In desperate times, superheroes resort to… MMA?

I don’t have any information or context to provide to help you make sense of how this video came to be. The best I can do is this message board thread that has live play-by-play of the action, but it isn’t necessarily all that helpful. (“No one in the crowd. Including us, know what the fucks going on. Before you start shouting ‘staged’. I can confirm they arnt. The fights are SO bad that they couldn’t possibly been choreographed.”) Anyway, I think that’s for the best. You should be able to enjoy Spider-Man beating the absolute shit out of Batman and Robin without having to think about what you’re watching.

At least the Spiderman retains his cocky nature. The Batman and Robin were just so… underwhelming. Especially Batman. He seems underfed. Somebody give that man a burger.

I’d rather take Batusi Batman at this point.

Simple witty animal comics

I wish there were a simpler way to reblog things from Tumblr on Wordspace, but for now, I’ll just have to manually put pictures and stuff up.

Amongst the comics out there, it is usually the simpler ones that I appreciate the most, usually with a simple line of text. Those that require just a little bit of thinking: the comic artist puts in a little effort, just as the readers do.

A friend shared a Tumblr belonging to Liz Climo, an animator for The Simpsons. But where The Simpsons rely on in-your-face humour, Climo’s Tumblr relies on subtle wit revolving around animals, usually something to do with the physical properties of the animals themselves.

We have a winner here

DC Comics rocked the world with its misogyny by asking readers to submit a panel for a contest, a naked Harley Quinn committing suicide, and jezebel.com pounced on it. This was soon after DC Comics forbade Batwoman from getting gay married, resulting in its creative team leaving.

In order to be considered, one must draw four panels: in the first, Harley is attempting to get struck by lightning, in the second she’s wearing a bikini made of chicken in the hopes that alligators will devour her, and in the third she’s attempting to get swallowed by a whale. The fourth is, by far, the worst:

Harley sitting naked in a bathtub with toasters, blow dryers, blenders, appliances all dangling above the bathtub and she has a cord that will release them all. We are watching the moment before the inevitable death. Her expression is one of “oh well, guess that’s it for me” and she has resigned herself to the moment that is going to happen.

While most of the reactions have been of disgust and shock, reader Penabler puts his needs-carriage before the high horse:

I find this reprehensible but as a starving artist I still submitted for this contest. Here is what i did for:

Harley is sitting in an open whale mouth, tickling the inside of the whale’s mouth with a feather. She is ecstatic and happy, like this is the most fun ever. ”
